A transparent mockup lets the same device sit on a slide, landing page or editorial layout. Transparency removes the stage color, but the device, screen and soft shadow remain part of the exported image. The final destination determines how those edges will look.
Set the background before export
Choose a transparent canvas background in the image editor. The checkerboard indicates transparency and is not included in the output. Keep the screenshot itself opaque unless its design calls for a specific visual treatment; a transparent canvas does not make the phone display transparent.
Select PNG when the destination requires a conventional image with an alpha channel. WebP also supports transparency and often produces smaller web assets. JPEG has no alpha channel and Pixmock flattens a transparent canvas onto white when creating a JPEG.
Give the shadow room
Leave extra space around the device so the soft shadow can fade before reaching the canvas edge. A shadow cut off by the image boundary looks like a rectangular stain when placed on another background. Lower opacity or reduce device lift if the shadow becomes too dominant.
Check the exported file on both a pale surface and a dark one. A subtle shadow visible on white may almost disappear on charcoal. That is normal compositing behavior. If your design needs a specific dark-stage treatment, create a version for that surface instead of increasing opacity until every placement looks heavy.
Avoid needless scaling
Export near the pixel dimensions required by your page. Repeatedly resizing a small transparent image can make the frame edge look soft. Set explicit width and height in your website markup to reserve layout space and prevent surrounding text from moving as the image loads.
Keep reusable sources
Retain your original screenshot and scene settings. A completed download is a presentation asset, not a substitute for editable sources. Pro users can manually save their project; local recovery belongs to the browser and may be cleared by its storage settings. See the export format comparison before creating multiple format variants.
